Clothes with battery functions created

Swiss scientists have created clothes that can recharge a gadget. For this they used a new

a polymer that is applied to the fabric collects scattered light and generates electricity.

As Popular Mechanics writes, such a material is called luminescent. Previous such materials were too rigid to be used in the textile industry.

Scientists were able to combine severalluminescent materials. This produced a flexible polymer that was permeable to air and water vapor. The polymer can be applied to fabric. Its properties will not be affected: it will not become brittle and will not accumulate water vapor.

The authors of the development believe that such wearable solar energy concentrators hold promise due to the growing demand for mobile power sources for portable gadgets.
