Lava Blaze NXT Announcement: Proud Indian Is Actually Chinese

Indian smartphone manufacturer Lava Mobile recently launched the affordable Blaze NXT smartphone in India. Like all

Lava announcements, its presentation was filled withpatriotic rhetoric: “why buy Chinese smartphones when there are Indian ones” and the hashtags #ProudlyIndian. This rhetoric (note, directed mainly against China, with which India has many disputed territories) also enjoys government support - the Minister of IT and Railways of India, Ashwini Vaishnav, was present at one of the recent announcements of Lava. And this rhetoric is interesting not even because it is applied to an ultra-budget smartphone (Helio G37, 6.5×8243; HD+ screen, 13+2+0.3 megapixel cameras, 8-megapixel front camera, 5000 mAh battery, 4+64 GB storage, Rs 9,299).

As our colleagues from Helpix installed, proudIndian Lava Blaze NXT is a localized version of the Chinese Hisense V40i smartphone with slightly improved hardware (Helio G37 instead of Helio G25). In general, “why buy Chinese smartphones when there are other Chinese smartphones” - and which ones. Unlike most compatriots, Hisense is literally a state-owned company: despite the sale of part of its shares in 2020 as part of measures to increase economic activity, the state still owns a controlling stake. Even Huawei does not have such a status, which formally belongs not to the government, but to its own trade union! But this is the company Lava has chosen for its "patriotic" fight against China.
