Antibodies to coronavirus found even in those people who were not sick

In a new study, scientists suggest that a small proportion of the human population has antibodies to

coronavirus SARS-CoV-2, despite the fact that they were not infected with it. The body's immune defense could have been formed due to previous contacts with similar viruses.

The scientists' work was published in Science. The authors analyzed blood samples collected from adults and children in the UK before the pandemic and during its early stages. The samples included those that tested positive for COVID-19 and those that tested negative.

As expected, in most samples withconfirmed coronavirus found various antibodies. Surprisingly, antibodies capable of responding to SARS-CoV-2 were found in some uninfected people. Most often, such antibodies were found in children.
