In testing the air defense systemThe 16th Regiment of the Royal Australian Artillery took part. According to the Australian Department of Defense, tests were carried out to evaluate NASAMS components before deliveries begin (until the end of May).

The Defense Department noted that Australiawill receive an improved version of the Norwegian anti-aircraft missile system. It will include a radar station and an Australian-designed infrared/optical sensor.
NASAMS for Australia will useAIM-9X Sidewinder and AIM-120 AMRAAM aircraft missiles modified for ground launch. They can be loaded into the Hawkei mobile launcher or MK II containers based on the HX77 truck.

Each division will include threelaunchers. Achieving full combat readiness is scheduled for 2026. By this time, the 16th Regiment of the Royal Australian Artillery will receive two batteries of NASAMS anti-aircraft missile systems.
