It has now become known that the United Kingdom Army intends to increase its fleet of B2 level systems by more than one and a half times.

What is known

The M270B1 multiple launch rocket system is an analogue of the American M270A1 MLRS. The British version features reinforced armor to increase crew protection against improvised explosive devices.

Missile systems are in service on the 26th and101st Regiment Royal Artillery. The Ministry of Defense of the United Kingdom wants to increase the fleet of M270B2 MLRS to 71 units. Upgrading to level B2 will extend the service life until 2050.

M270B2 MLRS after the upgrade will be able to runGMLRS-ER and Precision Strike Missile (PrSM) missiles with a range of up to 150 km and up to 500 km, respectively. In the future, PrSM will be able to hit targets at a distance of 1000 km.
