NASA's Ingenuity helicopter captures Mars rock in 3D

On its 13th flight, Ingenuity sent back images of a rock-covered hill. We managed to make color images

from 8 meters - this geological formation is closerNo one took pictures. The width of the hill is about 10 m. At the top of the image stretches part of the “Artuba”, a ridge more than 900 m wide. From below and to the middle of the image several sand dunes of South Seite are visible. This is a hilly region of the Martian crater Jezero.

This anaglyph is best viewed with red and blue glasses. It was obtained by combining data from two images taken with a color camera on board Ingenuity at a distance of 5 meters from each other.

Previously Ingenuity during the 12th flight onOn Mars, as part of a NASA research mission, he took a black and white photograph of the planet. “The last flight of the Mars helicopter took us to a geological miracle - the South Séítah region,” the department said.

Helicopter Ingenuity was delivered to Mars along withrover Perseverance on February 18, 2021 after almost 7 months of flight. The first flight took place on April 19. The $ 85 million helicopter was the first aircraft launched on another planet.
