The Armed Forces of Ukraine published a rare video of the use of OTO Melara Mod 56 howitzers received from Spain

Last year, the Armed Forces of Ukraine received OTO Melara Mod 56 artillery mounts. A few years later

months, military personnel showed rare footage of the use of a 105-mm cannon.

What is known

The Ukrainian Defense Forces received at least six towed howitzers. The export of guns was officially confirmed by the Minister of Defense of Spain Margarita Robles (Margarita Robles) at the end of autumn last year.

OTO Melara Mod 56 is a 105 mm gun,developed by the Italian company OTO Melara. It weighs 1290 kg and is equipped with a 14 gauge barrel. The crew of the artillery mount consists of seven people. The howitzer is capable of firing 10 rounds per minute and can hit targets at a distance of up to 10.6 km.

OTO Melara Mod 56 exists in two moremodifications: GebHaub 105 and Model 56. The first was developed in Germany and received a German barrel. The second version was created by Norinco for the Chinese armed forces.
