You, the boyars with eight-core smartphones, do not know anything about the inconvenient Internet, if you did not find WAP

Today is not an easy day because on June 26, 1997, exactly 23 years ago, Ericsson, Motorola, Nokia, and Unwired Planet (known as

browser developer NetFront) have teamed up todevelopment of mobile Internet called WAP. The technology sounded entirely like Wireless Application Protocol - a wireless data transfer protocol - and was intended to display websites on phones of the "monochrome" era.

From combining to implementing wireless InternetA year passed and the first pancake, as usual, came out lumpy - WAP 1.0 contained a huge number of flaws and looked more like a concept of how phone manufacturers see the mobile Internet, rather than a really usable online protocol.

Modifiedversion of WAP 1.1, released in 1999, which the developers subsequently slightly “dopilil”, essentially changing nothing. The result of this activity was the appearance of those same sites with a gray background and blue links - a monument of technology WAP 1.x.
