It has become known that Google will soon stop supporting its Google Drive desktop application on Windows.
What is known
The Google Drive desktop app lets youusers to synchronize files and folders on their computers with cloud storage, as well as back up photos and videos to Google Photos. From the beginning of August, Windows 8/8.1 users and those using the 32-bit version of Windows 10 will lose the ability to use this program to sync and backup their files.
However, this does not mean that they cannotcontinue to use Google Drive in browsers as long as they use supported operating systems. However, they may be advised to update their computers if they plan to continue syncing files using the app.
This update is part of the processgradual departure from Windows 8 / 8.1 operating systems. In January, Microsoft stopped providing security updates and technical support for these legacy systems, and in February, Google released a version of Chrome that also no longer supports Windows 7 and Windows 8/8.1. Mozilla Firefox also plans to stop providing security updates for these operating systems next year.
