Opening the meeting, Russian Prime Minister MikhailMishustin emphasized that the strategy will modernize the structure of wintering stations, create a year-round Antarctic station on the basis of the Russkaya seasonal field base.
Also, as part of the strategy, Russia plansintroduce modern means of communication and technology, build a new research vessel and equip the Russian Antarctic Expedition with two Il-114 aircraft.
At the same time, it is planned to create an integrated airborne geophysical laboratory on the basis of the third aircraft.
According to Mishustin, all this will allowmodern comprehensive scientific research and environmental protection measures at the level of the leading Antarctic powers and will strengthen Russia's position in the Antarctic Treaty system.
