In Russia, invented implants to "connect" vision and hearing to people with disabilities

implantation in the brain to return to people withdisabilities, lost sensory sensations - vision, hearing, and also fight neurological disorders. This is the first time such devices are being made in Russia. Discuss

Microchips will be installed fordirect contact with the cerebral cortex. Chips for the return of vision consist of an implant that is installed in the brain and microcomputer cameras that convert the video image into signals for the brain.

The hearing restoration chip transmits sound directly to the cochlea of ​​the inner ear, where the nerve endings are located. This device consists of two parts.

The third device will help people suffering from Parkinson's disease, chronic pain syndromes, tremors, Tourette's syndrome and other neurological disorders.

The most complex and unique is the visualneuroimplant. The new technology is suitable for people who have completely lost their sight, even with missing eyes, but who have visual experience and with an intact brain.

“Implant for vision is already going through the final stageanimal testing. In January of this year, we installed it in a monkey, the tests were successful. In 2024, the first blind volunteers will receive electronic vision. We expect that the operation to install such a technology will become widely available in Russia in 2027,” said Natalia Sokolova, director of the Soyedinenie Foundation for the Support of the Deaf and Blind.
