Ceramic armor was tested in Russia to protect people and equipment

The Russian holding Technodinamika has successfully tested ceramic armor that can protect both people and

military equipment.

Armored ceramics have passed ballistic tests, writes Rossiyskaya Gazeta. The tested plates showed high protective properties comparable to armor steel. At the same time, products made from corundum ceramics weigh less. Mass production of the armor is planned soon.

Corundum ceramics can be used in the compositioncomposite armor for the protection of personnel, land, air and sea equipment. Ceramic acts as a crushing layer and effectively protects against armor-piercing bullets and shells. The strength of such ceramics is higher than that of steel. When a bullet hits the ceramic armor, the core deforms on the plate surface and is delayed by a second layer of protection, for example, a polymer one.
