Russia may freeze the project to create quantum sensors

With a reduction in budget support for the program to 7 billion rubles. there will only be enough funds to carry out

research work - however, it will not be possible to put quantum sensors on stream and even create their industrial samples, warns a Rostec representative.

It should be noted that the state corporation previously planned to create a market for quantum sensors in Russia; the cost of implementing the project was estimated at 41 billion rubles.

Sensors are one of the most promising areasmarket of quantum technologies. Quantum sensors will make it possible to ultra-precisely measure various physical quantities - time, distance, speed, etc. Such sensors can be used in satellite and terrestrial communication systems, as well as on cellular networks. They will make it possible to determine the positions of satellites, ballistic missiles, aircraft, submarines, the speed and direction of movement of unmanned vehicles.

According to Vedomosti, the roadmap for quantum sensors was included in the Digital Technologies project, and it was initially assumed that 18.4 billion rubles would be allocated to it from the budget.
