Russia has created a rapid coronavirus test for asymptomatic carriers

The department notes that new test systems for use in laboratories have already been certified

Roszdravnadzor and put into production.

Express tests were created by Center specialistscompetencies of the National Technological Initiative (NTI) on the basis of the Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry named after Academicians M. M. Shemyakin and Yu. A. Ovchinnikov in collaboration with the Central Clinical Hospital of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

New comprehensive test systems are practicallycompletely exclude the possibility of a false-positive test result arising from cross-reaction with other common types of human coronavirus. At the same time, they are able to detect not only antibodies of the IgM and IgG classes, but also IgA antibodies to SARS-CoV-2 in human serum or plasma, which, in the conditions of clinical centers involved in the treatment of coronavirus infection, can help to timely identify patients with a likelihood of severe course of the disease.

Company representatives note that the existingtests can only detect the presence of IgG / IgM antibodies in a person's blood. Domestic development, in turn, shows the presence of IgA antibodies. This makes it possible to more accurately determine the quality of the immune response to the effect of the virus and the stage of the disease.

The developed diagnostics is based on the methodenzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA): it can accurately determine the amount of immunoglobulins (antibodies) to coronavirus infection in human blood. Test time is approximately 90 minutes, and rapid test kits are easy to use and safe for clinical laboratory personnel

Test systems are being prepared for widespread use.
