According to information from the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the last checkat the warehouse was carried out in 2013, after which the owners used the services of a third-party organization and provided the results of an independent examination, which is permitted by law.
The head of the region Dmitry Azarov instructed to checkthe company that has been evaluating fire safety at the warehouse all these years to examine whether the instructions to the warehouse management were issued and how they were subsequently worked out.
Who suffered from the fire?
The fire occurred near the factoryhighway, residents of nearby areas immediately began to complain of strong smells of burnt plastic and black puffs of smoke around. According to eyewitnesses, it smelled very much of burnt plastic.

Are there any consequences?
As ecologist Sergei told KP-SamaraSimak, about 100 tons of polyvinyl chloride (PVC) were stored in the warehouse that caught fire. During the fire, a huge amount of various combustion products got into the air, in particular, hydrogen chloride and phosgene (carbonic acid dichloride), which were used in the First World War as chemical warfare agents.
In addition, compounds pose a dangerheavy metals, carbon monoxide, phenols, nitrogen oxides and others. Symptomatically, inhalation of these substances in large quantities can lead to coughing, inflammation of the nose, throat and upper respiratory tract, and in severe cases, pulmonary edema, disruption of the circulatory system and even death. Contact with skin may cause redness, pain and serious burns. Chemical burns to the eyes are also possible.
In order to minimize the consequences, people need to wear wet gauze bandages or face masks if they are outdoors.
At the moment, the state fire inspectorateprepares materials for initiating a criminal case under the article “Careless handling of fire or other sources of increased danger,” which led to a fire and caused major material damage.
