IPhone 8 will use forged stainless steel chassis

According to the Digitimes web publication, Apple is in negotiations to supply stainless steel frames for

smartphone iPhone 8 for release in 2017 withby the American company Jabil, rather than with its usual production partner Foxconn. This data confirms previous reports about Apple's plans to move to a new glass design and stainless steel chassis.

The last device where it was firsta similar combination of materials was used, there was the iPhone 4 device, which was “famous” for the problems of poor signal reception (who remembers the “Antennate” sensation, huh?).

Apple is reported to beuse the metal forging method for the chassis instead of the workpiece milling method that is currently commonly found on many Android phones on the market. The new forging process is at least 30–50 percent less expensive than the current 7000 series piece of aluminum ingot processing method on CNC machines used by Apple in the production of iPhone 6c and iPhone 7 models.

In addition, the report claims that forto meet demand, Apple plans to use Wistron's manufacturing facilities to assemble the upcoming iPhone device model. And this is in addition to all the existing production facilities of Foxconn and Pegatron, which are already collecting some models of iPhones for Apple.

Apple ultimately had touse the same design approach in the iPhone 7 model, which was first used in the iPhone 6 model, first released in 2014. But for the iPhone 8 model, at Apple, everything is ready to use the new design, which will consist in the use of a “sandwich” of glass panels and a stainless steel chassis between them.Apple is also expected to use a curved OLED screen in the new device and introduce wireless charging technology to this year's iPhone lineup.
