Today's report from the Wall Street Journal confirms earlier rumors that Apple is considering

possibility of using curved OLED screenson 2017 iPhone models. The report states that Apple has asked its suppliers to submit prototypes to the company in Cupertino with increased resolution compared to similar models from Samsung.

A company from Cupertino also turned to its suppliers with a request to increase the yield of products in the production of OLED displays.

Using OLED displays in iPhone models2017 will also come with a higher price for the device itself, as OLED displays are more expensive to produce than traditional LCD displays. This fact further confirms the rumor that next year Apple will use OLED panels only in the premium iPhone Plus model.

However, supply problems maymake the company completely abandon plans for the use of OLED panels. That is why the company is currently testing more than 10 different prototypes of the iPhone 2017.

Samsung is currently the leader in OLEDtechnologies and their production. The company is reportedly on the top line among suppliers of OLED panels needed by Apple to produce the iPhone 8 in 2017. In an attempt to increase its profitability, Samsung also invested over $ 10 billion in its production facilities. Companies such as LG Display and JDI are also rumored to supply Apple with some of their OLED panel models, with both companies also investing billions of dollars in their OLED panel production capacity.
