Europe will ask Telegram and other messengers for access to users' correspondence

A document was sent to the Council of Ministers of the European Union, which proposes measures against Islamic

extremism and terrorism.Among them is the obligation of technology companies to provide access to user correspondence. This means that the situation like with Telegram in Russia may repeat itself, after which the messenger was blocked in the country for a long time.

According to Bloomberg, governments can access encrypted messages in most instant messengers. Among them, presumably, is Telegram.

“Access to digital data is becoming moreimportant, whether it's connection data or, in some cases, the content of the data, ”the document says. A separate resolution calls for the use of technical solutions to access encrypted data. It could be approved by governments this month.
