Players in The Division 2 who exploited a vulnerability in Descent Mode will be penalized and face a temporary account ban

Last month, The Division 2 kicked off its fifth year of content support with the release of Descent mode.This mode

proved to be extremely difficult, so many players tried to take advantage of the bug to join players who were already in the middle of the playthrough and gain additional experienceBut it looks like violators will be punished.

What is known

Developer Massive Entertainment has made an official statement regarding this exploit and it seems that they are indeed taking drastic action against the players who took advantage of it:

"We take these issues very seriously and are committed to maintaining a fair and enjoyable gaming environment for all players.We have thoroughly investigated the situation and identified individuals who systematically used exploits."

Massive plans to "impose appropriate sanctions" on players who took advantage of the bug by suspending their account"Sanctioned" accounts will also be flagged, and repeated offenses will result into lengthen the duration of the lock.

In addition, Massive says that accounts with multiple violations will be permanently banned. Progress gained through the use of the exploit will be reset for such players.
