AI from Google is being used in projects to create a virtual border wall

CBP Autonomous Surveillance Towers Programorganizes automated surveillance “24 hours a day, 365 days a year” to help the agency “identify items of interest: people or vehicles.” 

It is unclear exactly how the CBP (Military Intelligence Service) plans to use Google Cloud along with Anduril. Google spokesman Jane Hodos declined to comment or discuss the contract.

The contract documents indicate that the newCBP's work with Google is done through Virginia-based third-party federal contracting firm Thundercat Technology. Thundercat is a reseller that positions itself as a leading provider of information technology for federal contracts.

The agency notes that Google advertisespowerful cloud-based image recognition technology through its Vision AI product, which can quickly detect, classify people, objects in an image or video file. It is these functions that will be extremely useful for a government agency that plans to install towers with surveillance cameras in the border region.
