SpaceX has expanded the number of beta testing users for its Starlink satellite Internet service. Company

I wrote letters to those who subscribed to news about the service and are located in a latitude where they can start using the Internet soon.

The letter is titled Better Than Nothing. According to numerous screenshots of the letter that fell into the hands of journalists, initially the service from Starlink will cost $ 99 per month, and the equipment that will need to be ordered at a time - another $ 499. The kit includes a user terminal for connecting to satellites, a mounting tripod and a Wi-Fi router. In addition, the Starlink app hosted on the SpaceX website is now available in the Google Play and AppStore.

“As can be seen from the subject of the letter, we are trying to reduceyour initial expectations,” the  Starlink Team said in a statement. “Data speeds are expected to range from 50 Mbps to 150 Mbps and latency from 20 ms to 40 ms over the next few months. There may also be short periods of no communication.”

Previously, Reddit users startedpublish the first results of testing the speed of Starlink. They were able to make these measurements as part of a closed beta testing of a satellite system manufactured by SpaceX. Residents of the northern United States and southern Canada, including rural Washington State, are now eligible for this testing.

SpaceX promises that a full-fledged systemStarlink will provide speeds of up to 1 Gbps with latencies of 25 to 35 milliseconds. Many users in the comments wrote that they are currently paying $150 per month for a plan with 10 Mbps down and 1 Mbps upstream. That’s why they want to switch to Starlink now.
