Iran unveiled the FATTAH hypersonic ballistic missile with a maximum speed of over 17,000 km/h and a range of up to 1,400 km

Recently, General Amir-Ali Hajizadeh, commander of the Iranian Air Force and Aerospace Forces,

announced a new ballistic hypersonic missile. A week later, the weapon was officially presented.

What is known

The Iranian ballistic missile is called FATTAH.State media published photos from the weapons presentation ceremony. The event was attended by Iranian President Ebrahim Rahisi. Together with him, the commanders of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) came to the ceremony.

Iran says FATTAH is its firsthypersonic ballistic missile. It has a maximum launch range of 1,400 km and "is capable of penetrating all defensive shields." With these words, Amir-Ali Hadjizade described the new development. State media say the weapon "can hit adversary's advanced missile defense systems" and is "a big leap forward in missile development."

Maximum speed of FATTAH while falling onthe target is Mach 14 (17,150.62 km/h). It is separately noted that the hypersonic missile can penetrate the American missile defense system along with the Israeli Iron Dome anti-aircraft missile system. Given the range, we are probably talking about the American missile defense system deployed in the Middle East.
