Treasure hunter finds 3000-year-old treasure in Scotland

Treasure hunter Mariusz Stepien said he was "shaking with happiness" when he made the discovery in June on the field

near the village of Peebles, approximately 36 km south of Edinburgh.

I thought I had never seen anything like it before, and I felt from the beginning that it could be something impressive and I just discovered most of Scotland's history.

Stepien and his friends contacted the departmenttreasures of the Scottish government and camped in the field for 22 days while archaeologists recovered a collection of artifacts. The treasure included a full horse harness, buckles, rings, jewelry, a sheathed sword and chariot axle caps.

All of the finds and the soil surrounding them are now in the Collections Center of the National Museums in Edinburgh.

Emily Freeman, head of the treasury department, said it was a "find of national importance." It is only the second Bronze Age hoard ever excavated in Scotland.

It was a great opportunity for usrecover not only bronze artifacts, but also organic materials. There is still a lot of work to be done to evaluate the artifacts and understand why they were deposited.
