Using gigabit LTE module in iPhone 8 is unlikely

The new Galaxy S8 smartphone model from Samsung is literally packed with new features and technologies.

In addition to the frameless “infinity” display,The smartphone offers its users another significant key and latest technology that none of the devices on the market today will offer you, namely the gigabit LTE modem.

The presence of such a modem in the device is completelydoesn't mean you can achieve gigabit download speeds on your Galaxy S8 - that's still a long way off. But nevertheless, its presence guarantees the possibility of using such an advantage if such mobile operators as T-Mobile and Verizon carry out the appropriate modernization of their networks and offer such opportunities, which is what they are doing at the moment, judging by according to the latest reports.

As part of a marketing campaign called“Un-carrier”, which will now be introduced by the mobile operator T-Mobile, promises users double the speed of downloading content from the Internet to the Galaxy S8 smartphone in more than 300 US cities. OPSOs such as AT&T and Verizon are still in the process of deploying networks with gigabit LTE capabilities, which are expected to go online in some cities in the second half of this year.

By the time the company launched the iPhone 8Apple Gigabit LTE networks should appear in some major US cities. However, if at the end of this year you are waiting for gigabit download speeds from the brand new iPhone 8 smartphone, then you will most likely be disappointed.

Apple surprised society last yearwith its decision to use modems from two different manufacturers in the iPhone 7: Intel and Qualcomm. Previously, for a long time, Apple devices used RF components manufactured by Qualcomm. That is why such a step caused surprise. Shortly after the release of the iPhone 7, independent testers found that Intel modems were noticeably inferior to Qualcomm modems in such parameters as energy efficiency and data transfer speed. Later, the situation became even more complicated after a statement from Qualcomm representatives that Apple deliberately did not use all the design capabilities of the Qualcomm radio modem in the iPhone 7 in order to maintain parity between radio modems from two different manufacturers.

Theoretically, Apple could useQualcomm’s gigabyte LTE modem in iPhone 8, but even if this happens, it’s unlikely that all of its features will be involved. Indeed, Intel still cannot offer Apple a gigabit LTE modem for use in the new smartphone model. And since Apple prefers to get ready-made modems from different manufacturers, it cannot fully rely on deliveries only from Qualcomm. The situation as a whole was also complicated by a recent lawsuit between Apple and Qualcomm, which suggests that now Apple definitely can not afford to rely on the supply of radio modems for the new flagship device iPhone 8 only from Qualcomm.

Every user dreams of a higherthe data transfer speed on your mobile device and it will be very disappointing if Apple fails to use the gigabit LTE modem in the iPhone 8 due to a lawsuit with Qualcomm.
