Are there any prospects for Russian software developers
Russia has been heading towards
As a result, huge popularity beganuse not the most famous solutions in the world. For example, an IT service management system based on the Hewlett Packard Service Manager (HPSM) platform is being introduced everywhere in the world. Russian companies use the same competitors developed on open components, for example, Transset’s products on the TRS.EVA platform. Russian business also applies a number of domestic solutions for managing the production infrastructure and various ERP systems. And this is despite the fact that there are standard and widespread solutions in the world from the world leader in the ERP industry - SAP.
ERP, from English. Enterprise Resource Planning - “enterprise resource planning”- organizational integration strategyproduction and operations, human resources management, financial management and asset management, focused on continuous balancing and optimization of enterprise resources through a specialized integrated package of application software that provides a common data and process model for all areas of activity.
Import substitution seemed forcedevent - both for the state and for business. But after a while it became clear that domestic software products are more suitable for Russian companies, primarily due to the “sharpenedness” of the specifics of doing business in the Russian Federation and legislative acts. In addition, Russian software is cheaper than foreign.
For example, there is the global giant Autodesk, whichproduces AutoCAD - the most popular program for engineers and architects. Russian corporations (especially state-owned) are not recommended to use Western programs for security purposes, so the task was to develop an analogue. As a result, domestic programs appeared on the market that not only are not inferior to AutoCAD, but to a greater extent correspond to the needs of the Russian business: Compass, NanoCAD and Robur. Moreover, the last of these programs was developed by a company with a staff of only 20 people - in the West they would be called a startup.
What technologies are changing the Russian IT industry
Among the technologies that have appeared recently, there are three main ones that business needs more than others.
- Microservice architecture.Products built on microservicesadapt to the load, which is constantly changing. If one of the application components begins to work incorrectly or fails, the application continues to function normally. Relatively speaking, minor failures no longer affect the performance of the application.
- Machine learning.Facial recognition, voice synthesis anddrawing up a psychological portrait based on gestures and gait could previously only be seen in movies, but thanks to machine learning, these technologies are already a reality.
- Big unstructured data.Computers are becoming increasingly capable ofsolving problems previously accessible only to human intelligence. In particular, we are talking about working with data analysis: when from a huge amount of information you need to select only important records and create a complete picture from them. Big data analysis is being implemented everywhere, from marketing to medicine.
There are enough technologies, but there is a problem with themimplementation. Entrepreneurs often cannot calculate the final benefit from using a particular technology and start the digitalization process because “it’s fashionable” or “that’s what competitors are doing.” Moreover, examples of economically justified implementation of digitalization are before our eyes: the biometric system of Rostelecom, which allows you to use banking services remotely, or the analytical system of Russian Railways, which predicts the condition of trains.
What problem do Russian IT companies need to solve in the first place
Today, domestic informationproducts are in demand abroad, however, as are developers, and this is the biggest problem of our IT market. It is easy for a qualified programmer to find work in a foreign company, and Russian companies in most cases cannot offer the same level of remuneration, which is why there is a huge staff shortage on the market.
According to Tadviser, the business is ready to offer 222000 jobs - that's just nobody. An experienced developer can find work in three days, and the employer has to look for a suitable candidate for several months. Until the personnel problem is resolved, the market development potential will not be fully revealed.
