How we made the World of Tanks Blitz graphics more realistic, and which mobile devices “pull” it

Pavel BuskoTech Lead WoT Blitz Very soon, on June 26, the mobile tank shooter World of Tanks Blitz will celebrate its day

birth. In honor of this, we released the anniversary update 7.0, in which we significantly improved the graphics. In the “seventh” update, we made seven significant graphics upgrades - we’ll talk about them now. And also about smartphones, tablets and computers, which are needed to unlock the full graphical potential of WoT: Blitz.

The game about tanks should be realistic even onmobile phones, so we are improving graphics constantly. But to carry out serious visual changes in the game is a task of epic proportions. Just keep in mind that World of Tanks Blitz downloaded 137 million times around the world, of which 36.4 million in Russia alone - combinations of operating systems (not only types, but also versions, from old to new) + processors + graphics accelerators + the volume of drives and the amount of RAM is inconceivable. "Tankers" play both on the new flagships, and on weak devices that appeared long before the first version of WoT Blitz was released. And the game should work for everyone, and preferably with about the same graphics, so that everyone in the online battles are equal. Therefore, among the many graphical improvements, update 7.0 included primarily those that will "fly" on as many smartphones, tablets and computers as possible.

And now more about the seven graphical upgrades:

Rolling back gun barrels when fired

One of the most frequent requests from players is the optionrecoil gun barrels when fired. In the name of realism and historical accuracy! The fact is that in real life a tank gun cannot be fixed rigidly in a tower, because the recoil energy will simply destroy it. To avoid this, the mechanisms of recoil were invented. In update 7.0, they were implemented in the game so that everything was really for real.
