
The Israeli Ministry of Defense is going to sell its Merkava tanks for the first time in history.

The information was shared by Ynet, citingtheir sources in the ministry. We are talking about a contract worth tens of millions of dollars. It will include more than 200 Merkava tanks in Mk2 and Mk3 modifications. According to the source, the tanks are being purchased by two European countries. For security reasons they are not named.

The deal is currently in its final stages:Israel only needs to obtain US permission. The fact is that the tanks use American technology. For example, AVDS-1790-5A engine and CD-850-6B transmission.

By the way, as of 2022, Israel has about 700 Merkava Mk3 tanks and about 600 Merkava Mk.2 tanks. The older version of the Merkava was taken out of service in 2016.
