The Marine Corps will spend $200 million to acquire the L-MADIS system, which destroys drones with Stinger missiles and electronic warfare

The air defense divisions of the US Marine Corps will receive powerful weapons to fight against

unmanned aerial vehicles. The system is called Light Marine air defense integrated system (L-MADIS).

What is known

The 2024 budget includesfinancing of purchases and modernization in the amount of $200 million. Deliveries of L-MADIS will begin next autumn. $24.6 million will be invested in upgrading the complexes, and $8 will be aimed at increasing the lethality of weapons.

L-MADIS will be able to hit unmanned aerial vehiclesdevices of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd groups. Drones are classified according to various parameters, including launch range, weight, and top speed. For example, the 3rd group includes systems weighing up to 600 kg, which are capable of flying at a speed of almost 200 km / h.

The complex is installed on the JLTV Block 1 chassis.L-MADIS Mk1 strikes aerial threats with Stinger missiles. The Mk2 variant dispenses with missiles. This version uses electronic warfare to counter drones.
