Japan plans to build a plant on the moon by 2023

Production facilities are going to be created in the area of the south pole of the Earth's natural satellite, where, as

experts suggest, there are impressiveice reserves. Water will be obtained from it, which will then be decomposed into oxygen and hydrogen. Using these elements, Japanese scientists intend to produce energy.

According to preliminary calculations, for such purposesneeds from 21 to 37 tons of water. The plant would significantly reduce the cost of transporting fuel from Earth. In addition, the successful implementation of the project will help accelerate the pace of the exploration of the Moon and space.

Last year Japan announced a decisionjoin NASA's lunar program. On July 10, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology of Japan and NASA signed an agreement on cooperation in the field of research of the Earth's natural satellite.

It is about interaction with the purpose of supplythe necessary research equipment, the exchange of data on the lunar surface, the joint creation of a lunar rover, as well as the possible sending of Japanese astronauts to the moon.
