Russian forests will be entered on a public map

According to the document, by September 1, 2021, Rosleskhoz, the Ministry of Digital Development, Rosreestr and Roscosmos will have to create

public electronic map of Russian forests.It will contain data on forestry, including the boundaries and categories of forests, types of permitted use, block-allocated network, as well as cutting areas, sanitary fellings, thermal points and forest fires.

The plan indicates that the Ministry of Economic Development up to 15December, should prepare a regulatory legal act prohibiting the export from the Russian Federation of unprocessed or roughly processed timber of coniferous and valuable deciduous species from January 1, 2022.

Measures will also be taken to stimulateprocessing and demand for wood within the country, follows from the document. In particular, preferential business lending programs will be developed to modernize funds and create facilities for deep wood processing.

The backbone of the plan will be the creationFederal State Information System of the Forestry Complex (FSIS LC), the document says. Such a system involves the introduction of a state forest register in electronic form according to the same rules for all regions; it should be created by December 25, 2022.

Among other things, by the end of 2020, the existing LesEGAIS system will be able to track the supply of wood and wood products from harvesting to processing or export.
