First telecom operator named to receive permission to launch 5G in Russia

The Russian publication RBC published material in which the first telecom operator was named to receive

permission to launch 5G in Russia. It turned out to be MTS, while the company was allowed to cover almost all regions of Russia in which the services of a mobile operator are already provided.

Interestingly, the 5G technology will work in the frequency range 24.25-24.65 GHz according to the 5G / IMT-2020 standard. As for the terms of the license, so far it has been given to MTS until July 16, 2025.

Most likely, among the first to receivelarge industrial enterprises and businesses will have access to fifth generation mobile networks in Russia. Perhaps retail representatives will also be able to take advantage of 5G – for example, to create full-scale biometric payment systems.
