SMS crashed on many Android smartphones

Android smartphone users noticed that the SMS function was broken after the Carrier Services update. This service

manages communication with the cellular network provider.

Over the past week, many userscomplained on the OnePlus forums and in Play Store reviews that they were seeing problems with SMS messages. Removing Carrier Services helped resolve the bug. This service recently received an update to version 50. The update began rolling out on December 2. Immediately after this, the first complaints appeared.

In particular, users have noticed that SMS are blocked when sent or received. The bug was noticed on OnePlus, LG, Motorola, Samsung and TCL smartphones.

Google has already told The Verge that it has fixed the issue. The company recommends that users update to the latest version of Carrier Services through the Play Store to get the patch.
