Unmanned vessels will be tested on Russian seas and rivers

Representatives of the Ministry of Economic Development and the Ministry of Natural Resources did not answer questions at the time of publication, the publication writes. 

According to the draft resolution, the experimentwill be held from October 1, 2020 to December 31, 2025 in St. Petersburg, Leningrad, Astrakhan, Kaliningrad, Magadan, Murmansk, Rostov, Sakhalin regions, as well as in Krasnodar, Primorsky and Khabarovsk territories.

Based on the results of the experiment, the Ministry of Industry and Trade will be able touse its results in organizing production and installing automatic and remote control systems on ships. The main goal of the project is that from January 2021 any shipping company can equip its merchant or technical vessel under the Russian flag with autonomous navigation systems and legally use them in regular commercial activities, explained Alexander Pinsky, general director of the MariNet industry center of the National Technology Initiative.
