Dutch engineers want to destroy insects in greenhouses using drones, IR cameras and artificial intelligence

The Dutch company PATS offers a new way to combat insect pests. Engineers believe that

will be able to solve the problem using artificial intelligence, cameras and drones.

What is known

Specialists have created two components: PATS-C and PATS-X. The first is responsible for detecting insect pests, and the second for their destruction.

The PATS-C component consists of a number ofinfrared cameras with internet connection. Artificial intelligence processes the received image and can identify insects that fly over plants in greenhouses.

If the algorithms recognize a beneficial insect, thenNothing happens. Otherwise, the PATS-X component, which consists of unmanned aerial vehicles, comes into play. They are located at a wireless charging station.

Drones just crash into insects, destroying themwith your screws. The PATS-X component is currently being tested, while PATS-C is already in use at 250 sites in the Netherlands in test mode. It only alerts you to pests.
