The new robot runs through crops, examining each plant individually

The new project is called Mineral. The company's blog and website announced that Mineral is still in

experimental phase. The idea for its creation appeared when it became obvious that previous attempts to digitize agriculture were not as successful as expected. But the importance of sustainable food production is growing every year.

Similar to how Google originally started withIdeas for indexing the entire web and organizing this information, Mineral head Elliott Grant and his team presented how you can measure each plant in a field and adjust its growth individually.

The developers decided that the way to implement the ideaIs a "buggy setup", a robot that can intelligently and tirelessly navigate the fields and perform tedious and repetitive checks without pause. With reliable data at scale for each plant, growers can make more granular decisions - a spoonful of fertilizer here, a drop of a very specific insecticide there.
