The chip of the new chip is made of molybdenum sulfide MoS2, a two-dimensional  material consisting of a layer only three atoms thick.Scientists have created a floating-gate field-effect transistor chip based on it.

The researchers emphasize that the ability of suchcircuits perform two functions in a similar way to how the human brain works, where neurons are involved in both storing memories and conducting mental calculations.
