Haier 32K6600SG review: a suitable TV for the kitchen, nursery or summer cottage

</ img>

The Haier 32K6600SG, with its reasonable price, stands out among affordable 32-inch TVs. On the one hand, in

there are a lot of more or less similar ones to this nicheTVs. There are obvious competitors in the form of interesting models from Hisense, Kivi and Xiaomi. But on the other hand, if you analyze the characteristics in detail, then a lot of competitors will gradually be eliminated: some do not have Bluetooth, others have a simpler tuner or do not have a slot for memory cards. Our test subject does not have a particularly powerful processor, but you can close your eyes to this; in real life it is not noticeable. The more important problem is the small amount of permanent memory (although here Android TV is licensed by Google, this automatically means that the TV meets the minimum technical requirements of the operating system for stable operation). It limits the number of apps you can use directly from your TV. With four gigabytes, this is more of a demo version, an inexpensive opportunity to understand what Android TV can do (Netflix is already pre-installed, for example, which not all TVs in this class can boast of). Therefore, the Haier 32K6600SG TV can be called a simple and affordable solution for situations where there are no high requirements for hardware and video quality. For example, as a second or even third TV in the house - for the kitchen, children's room or cottage, where no one will look closely at the number of pixels per inch. Or simply in the form of the first Smart TV, replacing the old model, with a picture tube.

Its low price and small diagonal make it an attractive option as a TV for the kitchen or children's room - where there is no particular need to watch high definition video or install a large number of applications. But there is a constant need to watch videos from the Internet.

What is it?

Haier 32K6600SG is small (32 inches) butsmart (AndroidTV) TV. With HD resolution sufficient for a “background” picture, a reasonable number of modern interfaces (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and many wired ones) and good sound. And at an attractive price: it is slightly higher than nameless analogues, but lower than A-brands with similar filling.

</ p>

What does it look like?

Neutral, in the spirit of the times. There are thin black frames around the screen. The only external decoration of the front panel is the manufacturer's logo in the center. At one time it was fashionable to buy white TVs for the kitchen. So, with the modern minimum thickness of the frames, this makes no sense: it is no longer clear where the screen is and where the body is.

Matte black plastic is easy to coatfingerprints. The screen coating is semi-gloss, reflections on it are clearly visible, but it is not a “mirror”. The Haier 32K6600SG doesn’t break any records in terms of thickness, but it doesn’t break the trend either. The maximum thickness at the base is 6.5 cm; from about the middle of the height it decreases in a “step”, gradually reaching a minimum. The stand consists of two plastic parts. Each of them is attached to the base with two screws, they are held firmly, and the TV is stable. The case has a standard VESA mount 200x100 for hanging from wall or ceiling brackets.

There is a protrusion on the left side of the bottom edge, onwhich is located below the control joystick. A saving straw for times when you haven't won the battle for the remote. There are no other controls on the case.

</ img>

The Bluetooth remote control itself already plays a rolehigh-tech gadget. Quite long, with large buttons for quick access to Netflix and Youtube. Google's voice assistant can also be called up with a separate button. The remote control has a built-in microphone for voice control. The remote control is powered by two AA batteries, they are included in the kit.

What are the connectors?

The connectors are located on two panels in the rearbody parts. The one accessible from the side is more convenient for frequent cable connections. It contains an HDMI connector, cable and antenna inputs, two USB ports, CI and MicroSD slots (it is labeled as TF, that is, TransFlash), and a headphone jack. Getting to the second panel is not so convenient; it faces down behind the TV. It has two more HDMI ports, a component video input, “tulips” for audio connections, an optical interface and an RJ-45 network port. Moreover, there are Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5.0 wireless interfaces. Very good for a TV of this level.

What's inside?

A modern smart TV is, in fact,full-fledged computer. Just not very powerful, at the level of a budget smartphone. Hidden in the middle of the Haier 32K6600SG is a processor with four ARM Cortex-A53 cores operating at 1.3 GHz, 1 GB of RAM and 4 GB of storage. The Mali-470 MP chip is responsible for the graphics. The sophisticated user is not impressed, but do not forget that this is not a smartphone, and the performance requirements here are different. The interface works quite smoothly, although it feels like there is not a lot of power reserve. You can also play the pre-installed Asphalt 8 without any problems. But the second of the included toys, Real Racing, puts everything in its place at the first launch. No, the point is not performance, but the fact that in order to run it needs to download and install additional data. And with four gigabytes of built-in memory, there is practically no room for maneuver. Theoretically, you can use a memory card to install programs there, fortunately there is a MicroSD slot. But you won’t be able to pull off such a maneuver right away; by default, the card is connected exclusively in read mode. In general, the thrifty enthusiast will find something to keep himself busy.

How is it managed?

I already talked about the saving joystick above, butThis is, of course, an emergency option. It serves as the central control buttons for the remote control, channel switching and volume. But the remote control, as you understand, is wireless, and there are more buttons on it. Not that all of them are vital, but for quick access to a number of functions, they are useful and convenient. The remote also has a microphone for voice commands that can be given to Google's voice assistant. Let me remind you that the remote control uses Bluetooth technology, so you don’t have to aim it exactly at the infrared receiver, like in a regular TV.

For even greater ease of use, you canuse additional Bluetooth accessories, such as keyboards or joysticks. And the two USB ports on board perfectly understand the wired keyboard and mouse connected to them. This is very important: how will you play, isn’t it inconvenient from the remote control?

How good is the image?

It depends on what to expect. To create a home theater where your TV plays high-quality video and you and your guests watch it attentively, you need a more specialized solution. And if the TV needs to play in the background in the kitchen, or play cartoons in the nursery, then it will do. The budget does not provide for a flagship bouquet of image enhancement technologies. We have honest HD here: 1366×768. With a 32-inch diagonal, this gives a pixel density of about 49 ppi, which is quite enough for comfortable viewing from a distance of two meters. Of course, it’s possible from a larger or smaller distance; we’re talking here about some approximate optimal distance, beyond which a person with perfect vision will not get much of an effect from increasing the pixel density.

Viewing angles are quite wide, at maximumdeviations there is a slight decrease in contrast. The picture as a whole is pleasant, looks quite lively and juicy. The brightness reserve (according to the passport is 180 cd/m2) is enough for most situations. There are no bells and whistles like quantum dots, local dimming or HDR support. Among the image adjustments, in addition to the usual brightness, contrast and saturation, gamma and color temperature settings are available. There is a digital noise reduction function (MPEG Noise Reduction).

How are you doing with the sound?

The TV has two 8-watt speakers. They sound good, they do not rattle at volume. The Simulated Surround Sound technology is designed to improve the sound quality and give it volume, this option must be found and activated in the settings. There is also a five-band equalizer and several other sound tuning options.

What can Smart TV do?

In terms of Smart TV, the Haier 32K6600SG TV will givehead start to a whole flock of budget and outdated models. There is a complete modern mincemeat, which is based on the universal Android TV platform (Android 9.0 Pie version is used). Its obvious advantage compared to closed ecosystems is its wide range of applications and excellent integration with other devices.

The main menu screen presents the mainpossibilities. Selected applications, Netflix, YouTube, TED, Spotify, VLC (a library of local and online sources), TuneIn and Facebook Watch received separate “lines” by default. They can be edited and rearranged, customizing the main screen to your liking.

Pre-installed omnivorous player VLC (or otherplayer of your choice) can play media files from a USB flash drive, portable hard drive, MicroSD card or network folder. You can navigate through these folders and drives using a file manager, which is also preinstalled and can create folders, copy files, and that’s all. The web browser allows you to view any site, although for convenient navigation it is still better to use a more familiar mouse rather than a remote control. This is what it looks likeggon this TV screen:

If you wish, you can install from PlayMarketany necessary games and applications. Of course, keeping in mind the extremely limited disk space on the built-in drive. If it turns out that your appetites significantly exceed the capabilities of the device, you can consciously purchase a more powerful Android set-top box. But it is still assumed that the Haier 32K6600SG is a TV for not the most demanding users.
