RAM and SSD may rise in price due to earthquake in Taiwan

On December 10, a magnitude 6.7 earthquake occurred off the east coast of Taiwan. For manufacturers

RAM and SSD production had to be stopped to check the equipment. Such incidents can affect the price of components.

Reportedly closest to epicenterthe earthquakes turned out to be the ram factories of Nanya, MTTW (Micron) and Vanguard. Journalists remind that recently there was a fire at the MTTW enterprise, which caused a temporary power outage. All this led to a situation due to which prices for RAM may rise.

Also not far from the epicenter of the earthquakethere were factories for the production of chips from TSMC, UMC, Vanguard and PSMC. Interestingly, such situations affect territories where 21% of global DRAM chip production capacity is located.

It is worth noting that the companies themselves did not talk about the problems and have already returned to normal work.
