The two chambers of the Swiss parliament approved the supply of weapons, ammunition and equipment to Ukraine.

This

an unprecedented decision, since Switzerland has been officially a neutral country since 1815 and has historically not supportedbelligerent countries.

What is known

Arms Act previously prohibited the transfer of weaponsand ammunition from Switzerland to third countries, but the May 12 amendment will allow friendly states to support Ukraine with much-needed Swiss-made ammunition and equipment.
