Starting sales of Final Fantasy XVI have become known.

What is known

According to the Japanese portal Gamer, since

release (June 22), Square Enix sold more than 3 million copies of Final Fantasy XVI. These statistics take into account both digital versions and physical editions.

Interestingly, the new part of the game is significantlyinferior in sales to Final Fantasy XV. The previous game sold 5 million copies in the same period. Apparently, the developers' fears of weak pre-orders were not groundless.

It's not clear what the reason for the low sales is, as Final Fantasy XVI received high ratings from both users and critics. Perhaps the main factor was the exclusivity of the game on the PlayStation 5.
