The world's first tape recorder recorded sound on wire. And the recording on it from 1900 has survived to this day!

122 years ago, on December 1, 1898, the world's first tape recorder was created. It was developed and assembled by a Danish engineer

Waldemar Poulsen.

Then he called the device a telegraph. The recording was carried out on a thin steel wire, which was magnetized by a magnetic field dependent on sound vibrations. The device was first demonstrated at the World Exhibition in Paris only in 1900, and it aroused genuine interest. During the exhibition, the Austrian Emperor Franz Joseph approached the telegraph and said a few words. Recorded on a wire, the sounds of the emperor's voice became the first tape recording in history. Surprisingly, it has survived to this day.
