An American fighter jet is shown destroying a missile using a laser

The American military-industrial corporation Lockheed Martin published a video showing how

fourth generation fighter F-16 Fighting Falcon destroys a missile using a laser.

On board the F-16, a tacticalonboard laser system Tactical Airborne Laser Weapon System (TALWS). Using the latter, the fighter neutralized a missile launched from a warship at a KC-46 Pegasus tanker aircraft.

Journalists write that this laser systemis actually being created as part of the Self-protect High Energy Laser Demonstrator (SHiELD) program. The American military will receive real weapons in 2025.

This is not the first Lockheed Martin video featuringdemonstrates the use of laser weapons. Then the corporation also announced that it was able to solve issues with the heating of the laser installation and its compactness.
