Apple has released several successful models of its “budget” (by manufacturer’s standards) iPhone SE smartphone:
What to expect
We're definitely expecting an updated iPhone SE this yearnot worth it. And most likely next year too. Barclays analysts, after “repeated conversations” with companies in Apple’s supply chain, believe that Apple is unlikely to release a new iPhone SE in 2024.
According to rumors, this is to some extent due to the fact thatthat Apple's own 5G modem will not be ready anytime soon. Apple has been planning its release since at least 2018 and even acquired most of Intel's smartphone modem business in 2019. However, for now the company has to use modems from its supplier, Qualcomm.
Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo back in Aprilreported that mass production of Apple modems will begin no earlier than 2025, and the iPhone 16 line and smartphones released after it will continue to use Qualcomm modems.
