Look at the huge “wall” of hundreds of thousands of galaxies behind the Milky Way

On three-dimensional maps of the Universe, scientists discovered one of the largest cosmic structures from

ever found. The wall of unimaginable dimensions extends 1.4 billion light years in length and contains hundreds of thousands of galaxies. The South Pole Wall lies just beyond the Lanikea Supercluster, wrapping around the region.

The densest part lies in the direction of the South Pole of the Earth, which inspired astronomers to name the structure.

The South Pole Wall is as big as the Great WallSloan's wall. It is one of the largest structures known in the Universe. One light year is approximately 9 trillion km, so such cosmic structures are incredibly huge. But a new discovery is much closer.

Space Cartographer, University of Paris,Daniel Pomare, one of the leading authors of the study, explained how such a large and not so distant structure went unnoticed. This is due to its location in the sky, which has not been fully examined. Also, direct observations of this part of space are hindered by areas of galactic dust and clouds in the foreground. Scientists have discovered the South Pole Wall due to its gravitational effect captured at the speeds of a sample of galaxies.
