Look at the Blue Ring Nebula: the reason for its origin has been found

The TYC 2597-735-1 nebula contains a central star surrounded by an extraordinary ultraviolet ring.

which was discovered using the NASA Galaxy Evolution Explorer (GALEX) telescope.

It is noted that the star itself TYC 2597-735-1turned out to be old, thermonuclear reactions of hydrogen in its bowels have already ended. Despite this, there is an accretion disk of matter falling on the surface around it - as is typical for young stars.

Most of the stars in the Milky Way are indual systems. These are such couples  stars that revolve around each other. If they are close enough to each other, the stars merge and one absorbs the other. When a satellite loses its orbital energy, it can eject energy at a high rate.

Scientists have suggested that the nebulaformed just like that. To test this hypothesis, the team observed the nebula using two different spectrographs on large telescopes. And the theory was confirmed: the Blue Ring Nebula is formed by the remains of the merger of two stars that occurred 5 thousand years ago. Typically, such objects quickly disappear from view behind dense clouds of gas, but the unique features of this nebula allow even the central star to be visible.
