At 20 ° C, the coronavirus lives on phones and banknotes for up to 28 days

Banknotes, glass, touch screens, metal handles and handrails can carry coronavirus infection

for almost a month, scientists fromAustralian Center for Disease Preparedness. The SARS-CoV-2 virus is "extremely resilient" and can survive up to 28 days at room temperature on smooth surfaces such as smartphone glass and banknotes.

When the air was heated to 30 degrees Celsius, the virus persisted on smooth surfaces for up to three weeks, and at 40 degrees, it died in a few days. At the same time, porous surfaces (experts tested, in particular, cotton fabric) in this respect turned out to be less dangerous than smooth ones.

The survival of the influenza virus under similar conditions does not exceed 17 days, the study notes.

The scientists stressed that the screens of smartphones pose the greatest danger, because, unlike hands, people do not disinfect them as regularly.
