A device has been developed to replace a guide dog for blind people

Information has appeared online that a device has been developed in Britain that replaces a guide dog for

blind people. The author of the new product is Loughborough University industrial design student Anthony Camus.

The novelty is called Theia, and it was based ontechnologies that are also used in VR controllers and self-driving cars. If the final version of the device is created, it will be able to function as a full-fledged guide robot. So far, the student's invention is at the stage of development.

Theia's main elements are a gyroscope, lidar and camera, which allow the device to understand its own position in space, as well as “be aware” of what surrounds its blind owner. Interestingly, the creator plans to bring the product to such a state that users will be able to enter a destination into it using voice commands, and then go to the required point along the most optimal route, taking into account the peculiarities of pedestrian and car traffic, as well as weather conditions.
