Specialists from the University of California at San Diego have developed a realistically floating underwater
It is reported that the robot was created mainly fromsoft materials, but some of its elements are hard, created with a 3D printer. In order to design an octopus robot, scientists studied the principle of underwater movement of living octopuses. It is known that the robot uses water and elastic energy to move. So, at first, it contracts, sucking in a small volume of water, and then expands, releasing this water with the energy of elasticity. Interestingly, thanks to the ability of the water nozzle to change its angle, the robot can swim in almost all directions.
According to the developers, the maximum speed of the robot octopus is approximately 800 meters per hour.
