Robots trained to create clay sculptures

Information has appeared online about the joint development of Disney engineers and Swiss scientists. They are using

complex algorithms taught robots to create sculptures from clay.

The system works quite “friendly”:the user creates the initial model, and then indicates those parts with which the machine will need to work separately, reports Disney Research. Then the robot looks for the optimal trajectories for the task and moves along them.

It should be noted that the latest development of scientists andspecialists from Disney rather help a person to get rid of routine tasks. So, the main creative part in the form of creating a three-dimensional model of an object still remains with the artist-sculpture, and not with an artificial hand. Thus, the engineers were able to achieve mutual assistance rather than depriving people of the meaning to create.
