Rosselkhoznadzor creates a vaccine against COVID-19 for animals

According to Ankvert, the first samples for extensive production testing may appear by the fall. At the same time

the drug will be universal for all animals susceptible to COVID-19 .

It may turn out to be the most popularat domestic fur farms that raise minks, where during the pandemic they had to destroy several million animals, as they quickly transmitted the virus to each other.

The vaccine is needed primarily for minks, because in Holland and Denmark on farms due to coronavirus, several million weasels have been destroyed - they quickly transmit the virus to each other.

Sergey Dankvert, head of Rosselkhoznadzor

The drug is being developed by the subordinateRosselkhoznadzor Federal Center for Animal Health (FGBI "ARRIAH") together with scientists from the Research Institute of Microbiology of the Ministry of Defense of Russia.

The head of the Rosselkhoznadzor admitted that throughFor a while, people will want to vaccinate pets as well - for example, cats that contract the coronavirus. If the vaccine is in demand, then it will be produced for veterinary clinics, he promised. The drug is currently in need of safety studies and testing of its effectiveness.

In addition, Rosselkhoznadzor jointlyWith the Institute of the Ministry of Defense, we conducted a study and made a test system that allows us to identify COVID-19 in people and animals. Currently, the test has shown a positive result in two cats in Moscow and Tyumen, Dankvert said.
